| Getting to know Mrs. Van Echten Welcome back to school! I am really looking forward to the 2008-2009 school year with my fifth graders!! My name is Lea Van Echten. I am one of the 5th grade teachers at this wonderful school. This is my eleventh year teaching. I have taught in a private all girls school in Long Beach for five years. I have also taught in the Santa Ana Unified School District for five years. I have been married to my best friend, Harry, for eleven years. We have been together for seventeen years. We met in college. We have two beautiful boys. Harrison is eight and a half and Hayden is six years old. We live in Aliso Viejo. I love to travel and experience new adventures. I enjoy scrapbooking, going to the movies and spending time with friends and family. I enjoy my children. I love to watch them play and listen to them speak. They say the most amazing things. I was busy interviewing this summer. I pray for peace before I go on an interview. I usually pray to God and ask him for the job. This summer I prayed a “new” prayer. I didn’t ask for the job this time. I asked that God would place me in a school where HE wanted me to be. Here I am!! So you know that this year is going to be great filled with wonderful things because GOD has it already planned out. My goals for my fifth graders are to help them to continue to practice taking responsibility for themselves, their actions and their materials (assignments, homework, etc.) and to stay organized. We are anxious to use our new monthly organizers. We are going to be thoroughly prepared for sixth grade! Thank you for your kindness and support this year. Blessings, Mrs. Van Echten |
